Barcelona vs Real Madrid Match 2010

Barcelona vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid did not only lose El Clasico to Barcelona. They lost their self-respect, their greatness, and their first place in La Liga standings to their archrivals. 5-0 was the final shameful result.

In truth, who would have imagined such a score line after 90 minutes of proceedings at the Camp Nou? The public was rather expecting a hot and balanced encounter, due to both sides’ forces and advantages. Jose Mourinho is normally known for his diverse and effective strategies in big games, but on the night of November 29, he wasn’t given any chance to perform his wonders.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, his fans were hoping he would break his goalless curse against the former treble winners. That was not the case though, and in addition to the already-disgraceful result of El Clasico, his immature behavior made his troubles’ load on his shoulders even heavier.

Barcelona first took the lead through Xavi, on 10 minutes. A wonderful pass, followed by a decent ball control and a nice finish allowed the hosts to establish themselves in the game, while it gave their visitors a hard early cuff. Looking at the replay, there were no doubts that Mourinho had not organized his offside trap ideally, and this was a negative sign for the rest of the game.

Indeed, Pedro’s name sneaked on the scoring sheet 8 minutes later with a strike inside the 6-yard box. The connection between the ball provider David Villa and the eventual goalscorer was faultless; but speaking of Real Madrid, their defense was decomposed and awkward. By then, Jose Mourinho knew that his men were in the hands of their enemies; he was simply helpless.

His front looked lethargic and his midfield was subjugated. There was nothing left to do. Cristiano Ronaldo however made the situation worst on 32 minutes when he refused to keep his calm and pushed Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola near the touch line to get the ball back in play with impatience. This caused Victor Valdes and Andres Iniesta to race toward the winger in anger along with other players on the field; but the referee stopped the row and booked the Portuguese forward, as well as the home side’s goalie.

In front of 98,255 spectators, the humiliated Real Madrid players had to go for a break at half-time, with the task of overturning a 2-0 score line afterward. The Camp Nou kept hunting Los Blancos in the second half with loud screams and taunts, and being powered to maximum by their home fans, Barcelona came back stronger to sink their rivals even deeper.

David Villa finally clarified his image with a quick-fire double before the hour mark thanks to excellent contributions from Lionel Messi. The current league leaders played the rest of the match relentlessly, and they were rewarded with a late 5th goal—this time—from substitute Jeffren.

The Galacticos just could not handle the pressure and disgrace; but as opposed to the rest of his teammates, defender Sergio Ramos refused to contain himself, and lashed at Puyol and Xavi after horribly tackling Messi. He was sent off for his dreadful act; and obviously, it was a cheap red card.

Barcelona now top La Liga table with 34 points—either 2 points ahead of Real Madrid who occupy the second place still with 32 points. Several questions now arise concerning the future of Los Blancos’ biggest personalities: Does Mourinho still deserve to be called the Special One? Should Ronaldo expect to be a nominee for next years’ individual awards despite his infantilism and lack of influence in tough times?

More importantly, the club’s chances of holding La Liga title this season have become slighter. If ever they fail to become champions again, then it will be hard to know what and who Madrid really need to become a true kingdom. In the meantime, it would advisable for them to think of developing themselves—both tactically and mentally.

3 Tips for Doubling Your Conversions on ClickBank

Whether you’re an affiliate or a vendor, the number one thing you are constantly striving for is better conversions. You split test everything from the subject lines of your emails to the color of the order button on your pitch page in hopes of bumping up that conversion rate even just half of a point. Why are we all obsessed with conversions? Why do we spend hours poring over our iContact or AWeber statistics and why do we dedicate a huge chunk of our time to constant testing? It’s simple: higher conversions = a higher ROI = more money in your pocket. Not to mention, higher conversions means that affiliates are more likely to promote your product.
To help you in your constant quest for that ever elusive peak conversion rate, this article will show you three sneaky tips that you can implement this week to double your conversion rate.

(Please note: These tactics are not Google-friendly. If Google is a significant traffic source for you, these tips will probably not work for you.)

1) Use the Presale/Follow-up One-Two Punch.

Did you know that 80-85% of people who click the ‘BUY’ button and arrive on the payment form actually end up abandoning it? Some people say the percentage is even higher than that! This could be for many different reasons – from second thoughts to simple issues like “I’m too lazy to go find my credit card now” or “my wife/husband is calling me for dinner” or a random technical issue on the side of the credit card processor. The only thing we need to do in each of these cases is ask the customer to try one more time.

So, instead of sending your prospects directly to the payment form, use a “squeeze page” to collect the customer’s name and email address before you send them to the order form (see example below). You may have heard that adding this extra step in the order process will reduce your conversions. However, I have performed numerous split tests and adding the squeeze page to the order process has never had a negative impact on my conversions.

According to my tests, the ideal pre-sale form must contain the following:
• A request for the customer’s email address, first name and last name. You can (and should) automatically pass this information to the ClickBank order form so that the customer does not have to enter them again.
• Trust Guard seal (or similar type of seal) saying that your business is verified and legitimate.
• Progress bar at the top of the form showing where the customer is at in the order process and what they can expect next.
• A few testimonials, if you are allowed to use them.
• A product image (package) so customers can visualize what they are buying.

According to my split test results, I am able to capture about 85% of my leads this way! This means that for every 1000 customers who click my ‘BUY’ button but do not purchase, I am able to capture the names and email addresses of 850 of them!

These are the hottest leads any vendor can get because all of these people not only Clicked “BUY,” but also cared enough to fill in their details with a clear intention to buy!

All you need to do now is follow up with this list by sending them an email and offering them an incentive to try their order one more time. The incentive could be in the form of a bonus, a price discount or a free give-away. According to my results, 25-30% of them will actually try again and buy it, so you can easily increase your conversions by 30% by implementing this tactic!

2) Use a Video Sales Letter

Using a video sales letter as your main sales pitch, or using it in conjunction with a text sales letter that goes under the video, can easily boost your conversions up to 34% according to my split test results. Video sales letters are easy to create once you know the proven formula and follow it carefully. I believe video sales letters work for several reasons.

First, with text-only sales letters, you’re only able to stimulate one of your customer’s five senses: sight. And in our time-crunched, attention-deficit society, most customers will not take the time to read your sales copy long enough to become truly engaged in your pitch.

With video sales letters, however, you can stimulate a second sense: hearing. Not only can your customers read your pitch, but they can also listen to you say it! Now you can use tone, humor and inflections in your voice to emphasize certain points – all of which help keep the customer’s attention! Moreover, giving customers the ability to hear you can help you gain their trust and give them the sense that they “know” you.

Also, video is still a novelty in marketing since 90% of vendors are still using old school long-form sales letters. Customers are used to those long scrolling pages and they tend to get “sales letter blindness.” Instead of reading your 14-page masterpiece about how you got rich overnight by finding a super trick that no one else has yet discovered, they simply scroll down to see the price and leave your page forever without giving you a chance to build the value first.

With a video sales letter YOU control the selling funnel. You don’t allow customers to fast-forward the video (the equivalent of scrolling to the bottom of your sales page) so they either have to leave or listen to it fully to realize the full potential benefits of your product.
Yes, some customers will be irritated by the lack of controls on the video or they may get bored watching it and leave your page before the video is over. However, don’t worry about losing them because those people were never serious about buying from you anyway. The people who are actually interested enough to watch your video to the end are the ones you care about. They are fully engaged, ready to buy your product, and a large percentage of them WILL convert!

Video sales letters tend to work great in Internet marketing, weight loss, and other smaller niches.
3) Using Exit Chat and Exit Splash

I guess everyone has seen these annoying exit splash pop-ups that appear on many sites. Despite its annoying effect, it really does work and it’s a great way to capture leads! If the prospective customer is not convinced enough to buy your product right then, he may still be interested in getting a freebie that you can offer him on a squeeze page that appears after the exit splash.

According to my tests, using what I call the “video fake-out trick” on the squeeze page can further increase conversions. The “video fake-out trick” involves using a flash player that looks clickable because it contains an image of a play button. If the prospect clicks it, a pop-up appears saying something like “You are really going to love this video. Simply enter your email address in the opt-in form below for instant access.” Don’t play the video BEFORE the customer opts in because most of them won’t find enough time to watch the entire video and will leave before you’re able to capture their information.
I’ve also found that using an exit chat that appears to be a live operator is another great way to boost conversions. Program the “live” chat robotic operator to offer customers a $10 discount and watch your conversions increase 35-40%!
Like you, I am constantly testing and searching for ways to increase my conversion rates. These are some my best tips and I hope they work as well for you as they have for me!

St Andrew's Day marked with Google doodle

Today is St. Andrew's Day - and Google have celebrated the feast day of Scotland's patron saint with a Google doodle.

The logo's usual bold colours have been swapped for tartan, with the Saltire - the Scottish flag of St Andrew with a white cross on a blue background - is flying.

The St. Andrew's Day celebration has also been marked by Barack Obama, as The White House yesterday sent Scotland a St. Andrew's Day message for the first time.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said America "congratulated" the people of Scotland as it prepared to mark its national day.

In a statement on the US Department of State website, she said: "Scotland's unique culture and traditions have long been admired around the world, and the special ties between our two nations date back to the founding of the United States.

"From Patrick Henry and John Paul Jones to Davy Crockett and Neil Armstrong, trail-blazing Scottish-Americans have helped shape the history of our country in profound ways.

"Today, the United States and Scotland continue to share strong ties rooted in our common ancestry, values, and interests. Our people work together on many of the most pressing challenges of our time, and both houses of the United States Congress have Friends of Scotland Caucuses to further promote friendship and co-operation between Scotland and the United States.

"I wish the people of Scotland a joyous St Andrew's Day celebration and a successful year ahead. We look forward to further deepening our friendship throughout the future."

Second Life - Ahern Drama 2010

Today I came across with some funny people in second life. We have some people who are voluntarily having a argument in the main welcome area. This was very dull conversation but well it will excite some second life. But Here is some people arguing about race and animal sex.

All started when Camille Kestrel teleported in naked. We explained to her that we are in a welcome area which is protected. Anyways, She refuse to wear her cloths. Camille Kestrel need to understand the fact not all people here tolerate naked avatar in Ahern.

Camille Kestrel started asking people about why people are horrible to her. Well, no one was horrible to her in the first place. We all telling her to put the cloths on. She started complaining about white people are racist. Camille Kestrel is from china and she is half Pakistani and half Chinese. She said all White people are racist and this conversation made Waterfalzz Extraordinaire laugh out loud. Then Waterfalzz Extraordinaire started to agree with Camille Kestrel because Waterfalzz Extraordinaire is a black Afro American.

Terminator Sunkiller also got in to the conversation because he is a Latin man. He said "All the animal porn is white girl having sex with horses". He also mention that there is no black women in animal sex site. So afron Threebeards got offended. He started argueing about Terminator watch more Animal sex and waked off. This went for good 10 minutes.

What happened in Ahern was funny and racial conversation to animal sex. To conclude this blog i would say, there is people who come from different country to meet new friends online. Second life is good for business, pleasure, friendship and other stuff.

7 Ways To Get Paid For Goofing Off Online

I love to spend time online. And to be honest, a lot of it is spent goofing off, surfing, procrastinating... you know, just having fun! Well, I have figured out some ways to get paid (or get free stuff) simply for goofing off.
First of all, I have to say that I was a bit skeptical of these sites. I mean, so many people promise this - and it never seems to work out. But these sites are different...
I have only included sites that are:
  • Totally free
  • Willing to pay you cash (often via check or PayPal) or give you really good prizes like gift cards
You will never have to pay anything or enter your credit card information on any of these sites. You also don't have to give them you cell phone number either, which I never like to do. You will have to give them a valid email address so they know where to contact you with new surveys, polls, and updates on how much money you've earned.
Don't get me wrong - you won't get rich off of any of these sites. You will make some spare cash and get a few gift cards. This is great for anyone who is looking to make a small amount of extra income. You don't need any special qualifications. Anyone can do this.
  1. Lightspeed Consumer Panel - A great way to earn a little extra spending money taking surveys! Their surveys are easy and relevant to your life... and you get paid quickly :-)
  2. HCD Surveys - Ooooh, this is one of my favorite survey companies. They pay you to take really interesting surveys on things like American Idol and pop culture. Heck, I would take these surveys for free... but they are actually paying me!
  3. OpinionOutpost - A tried and true place to get paid for simply taking surveys. They pay quickly and promptly too. I am a huge fan of this company.
  4. InboxDollars - A nice company that pays you simply to read and click on email. It's something you have to do anyway, so you may as well get paid for it. They also will pay you a couple bucks every now and then for taking a survey. Sweet!
  5. Swagbucks - Earn gift cards, MP3s, and other goodies for searching the web and helping with tasks. They have $5 Amazon gift cards that I can usually earn in a week or two. I'm addicted to this site! Download their toolbar, and you'll get codes as you surf and search the web that add up to prizes. This is seriously a lazy person's way to score freebies.
  6. Toluna- Earn fast cash from taking polls and surveys! It's easy to get a check from this place. Make sure to visit every day and take all the sponsored polls. A quick and fun way to make money!
  7. MyPoints - Score gift cards to practically any store and restaurant for taking polls and clicking on emails. These people have been around forever, and you've probably heard of them before. I call this my free Starbucks for surfing the web plan.

Insights in Building Successful Google Adsense Money Making Blogs

Insights in Building Successful Google Adsense Money Making Blogs

Remember the first time you build your first Google Adsense blog. The definition of a Google Adsense blog is one of those money making blogs which derives its main revenue from adsense clicks.

Google Adsense money

Most of us envisioned raking in lorry loads of money per month by building money making blogs merely with incorporating Google Adsense into the main page, the post and money will come racing in . Sadly, hard reality sets in when they see their Adsense accounts displaying 5 cents and the most 20 cents per click. Nothing to shout about the click thru rate; only 1 %. This is the stage where the new blogger comes to term with the harsh reality of trying to make money from blogging. Duration in reaching this stage: at least 6 treacherous months.

As a result, is Google Adsense still the way to go?

The answer depends on yourself. You see, in order to effectively monetize a Google Adsense blog, you need considerable amount of traffic. Mind you, I’m not talking about just any traffic!

Numerous bloggers claim to be expert in Social Media Marketing like Twittering and they spend ample time writing articles along with submitting them to the popular Social Bookmarking sites like Squidoo and Digg all in the divine quest to drive traffics to their blog. While this may increase targeted traffic to a blog, the idea rarely translates into clicks their Adsense ads.

Therefore, if you’re one of those smart bloggers who’s still chasing traffic from Social Media sites and wondering why your Google Adsense account is neigh, I just have to share with you on the hard reality. People who mingle in Social networks are too ‘Net savvy and they also don’t click ads. They read blogs purely for entertainment rather than for the information that comes from the blog. It all depends really what are the agendas in the mind of these Social visitors.  The chances are, they won’t find anything worthwhile to click in your Adsense.

Similarly, just ask yourself when is the last time you lobbied to your friends in Facebook to take a look into your new blog post. On and off, your effort may successfully drive a sudden surge in traffics to them. But do you see any ‘Ka-ching’ in your Adsense account? I don’t know about you but I’m usually dissapointed.

Organic Traffic Is What You Should Focus On!

Let’s stop and ponder for a moment.

When a surfer is  searching for some new knowledge, they yearn for it and they want it yesterday! Therefore most of us will  stop at nothing online till we find that elusive information we need. We click on this or that, after all we are frantic searchers and we hungry for that information!

For example. Let’s say your debt is piling and you need instant solution in how to pay your next petrol and shopping bills. You need some credit card debt relief. So you go on onto Google and type in ‘debt relief’. You then click on the first result that promises you quick and uncomplicated debt relief. After you look at site for a few moments, you realize this site can’t answer your questions as well as you’ll have to go elsewhere. There’s an Adsense advert block to the higher left with a statement about instant debt relief. Voila! Go ahead, that might be just what you are looking for. Even if it’s not, there’s nothing to lose really.

You see, we put on different hats when we surf the net. If I’m looking for a particular information, in this case ‘credit relieve’, I’ll struck the Adsense link each and every time if it will direct me to what I am looking for. And do you know what? The Webmaster or weblog owner gets the maximum payout for your innocent click because you found the site by searching for the word ‘credit relief’.

On the other hand, if I was surfing to a site trying to find ‘How To Be A Successful Online Entrepreneur”and then clicked on the same advertising, chances are the webmaster this time might not have received the maximum payout for that particular click. Tis’ the reason why some of your Adsense chalking up 0.20 cents whereas there are some which only give 1 or 2 cents. In a nutshell, Google will pay you in accordance to the kind of audience that come in and click on your site.

Therefore, What Kind Of Adsense Blog Is Best?

This is actually the real secret to Ad-sense and how to help it become pay the most for each and every click. If you have a blog or website which ranks well for a number of key phrases and your pages are optimized to bring in targeted search traffic, you will do well with Adsense. Your blog doesn’t need to be a custom made Live journal blog nor does it have to end up being fancy. In fact, you can start with one of those Google adsense optimized themes.

SEO is the most important aspect you should focus on if you want to build successful Google Adsense Blogs. Forget about the Social Networking and about getting this post Dugg and Stumbled. Why bother when you know it’s not going to convert and the worst part is it’s going to wreck your click through rate. For all your hard work, imagine getting a big discount by Google. Shoot for the money. And in this instance, the money is in standing well for your key words and driving unique audiences from targeted organic search readers to your blog or website. Your current blog or website should focus only on one subject, for example ‘debt relief’.

Don’t try to make a blog or website cover everything under the sun. Each and every page of your website should have an article or perhaps post covering one search term. For example, if you had a new blog over the primary keyword of ‘paint ball’, then you’d probably want the interior pages targeting keywords such as ‘paintball guns’, ‘paint ball gears’, ‘how to play great paintball’ or ‘demolish your opponents with the best paintball strategy’. While you’re from it, make sure your own blog or website is optimized for Adsense.

Do not stuff every page with Adsense ads. The top spending ad block is normally a 350 x 250 or 250 x 250 block at the top left hand corner of your post. You may also want to try out the  tower banner in the sidebar, but honestly I don’t see much Ka-ching from that. Previously, I used to scatter little Google adsense link blocks on my own sites, but have always done poorly with them. It is found that most people prefer to click on  Adsense ads in the body.

Do you see how many Adsense block I put in Howtoblog.org now? Only two in the homepage and one in the post. More advertisements normally dilute your click payout because Google Adsense is smart enough to divert your readers click to the other site without opening a new window. Therefore, your reader is diverted away from your site already.

In a nutshell, if you really want to build money making blogs with your Google Adsense account, and maximizing the ROI of your Google Adsense blog, forget about those cool Social Networks, opt for a keyword targeted website or blog. Search Engine Optimized them, construct backlinks to make it list well for your chosen keywords and then relax and watch the Adsense money roll in.

How to Write a Book Review

First of all, read the book, think about it and, if you can, talk about it to someone.

What is the story about?  What type of story is it?  What sort of characters did it have in it?  Write a few sentences answering these questions.

Who do you think this book was written for?  Was it a boy, a girl or both?  What sort of age group.  Give it a star rating - 1 for poor and 5 for GREAT!!!

Put the title of the book and the author's name at the top of the review.  If you want to be really impressive, you can add the ISBN  (International Standard Book Number).  Every book has one and it is usually on the back of the jacket.

If you want your book review to be more valuable. You should go deep in to the book and understand the facts. You can key points some of the good facts. Find things where explains what is good about the story. How then describe a certain thing. The idea is to understand the story and what are the main facts.

I Believe....

That even when you think you have no more to give,

When a friend cries out to you -

You will find the strength to help.

I Believe...

That credentials on the wall

Do not make you a decent human being.

 I Believe...

That the people you care about most in life

Are taken from you too soon.

I Believe...

That you should send this to

All of the people that you believe in, I just did.

An Arab goes to a Jew to buy black bras.
The Jew,
known for his skills as businessman, says that black bras
are rare and that he is finding it very difficult to buy
them from his suppliers. Therefore he has to charge
$50.00 for them.

The Arab buys six.
He returns a few days later and
orders another dozen.....

The Jew
tells him that they have become even harder to get and
charges him $60.00 each.

The Arab

The Jew is
somewhat puzzled by the large demand for black bras and
asks the Arab what he does with all these bras.

The Arab
answers : ‘I cut them in half and sell the halves to the Jews for

Heart Attacks And Hot Water

Heart Attacks And Hot Water

A very good article which takes two minutes to
read. I'm sending this to persons I care about........I hope you
do too!!!

Heart Attacks And Drinking Warm Water

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after
your meal, but about Heart
Attacks. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their
meals, not cold water, maybe it is time we adopt their drinking
habit while eating.

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is
applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a
meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that
you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once
this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be
absorbed by theintestine faster than the solid food. It will
line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead
to cancer. It is best to drink
hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Common Symptoms Of Heart Attack...

A serious note about heart attacks - You should know that not
every heart attack symptom is going to be theleft arm hurting . Be aware of intense
pain in the jaw line.

You may never have the firstchest pain during the course of a heart attack. Nausea and
intense sweating
are also
common symptoms. 60% of people who have a heart attack while they
are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a
sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the
better chance we could survive.

Read this & Send to a friend. It could save a life...

I JUST DID

DONT SLEEP ALWAYS LATE - CAUTION

Find out the reasons yourself  WHY?

Take note...don't always sleep late!!

Good rest and sound sleep is very important... if u don't sleep well,
The toxins in your body will accumulate... Affecting your health and your mood...
The main causes of liver damage are:
1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause..
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which
includes even the best
Cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is
very fit.
8. Consuming overly done foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or
cooked 3-5 parts. Fried
Veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.
We have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits. Maintaining good eating habits is very
important for our body to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals.
Because….

Evening 9 - 11pm: is the time for eliminating unnecessary/ toxic chemicals (de- toxification) from
the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to
music. If during this time a housewife is still in a un relaxed state such as washing the dishes or
monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on her health.
Night at 11pm - 1am: The de-toxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep
sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am: de-toxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep
state.
Early morning 3 - 5am: de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe
cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the de-toxification process had reached the
respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin
removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am: de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.
Morning 7 - 9am: Absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at
this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before
7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they
should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 -10am rather than
no meal at all. Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing
unnecessary chemicals.

Midnight to 4am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood.
Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.
Sharing Is Caring!

What to do when you are trapped in a lift ???

Dear All,

This is a very important and informative email .

What to do when you are trapped in a lift ???
We never know when and where accidents will happen to us OR people around us. Read on and hope this
piece of information may help any of us when things do happen to yourself, our friends and our
loved ones.

One day, while in a lift, it suddenly broke down and it was falling from level 13 at a fast speed.
Fortunately, I remembered watching a TV program that taught you must quickly press all the buttons
for all the levels.

Finally, the lift stopped at the 5th level.
When you are facing life and death situations, whatever decisions or actions you make decides your
survival.

If you are caught in a lift breakdown, first thought in mind may be 'waiting to die'...

But after reading below, things will definitely be different the next time you are caught in a
lift.

First - Quickly press all the different levels of buttons in the lift.
When the emergency electricity supply is being activated, it will stop the lift from falling
further.

Second - Hold on tight to the handle (if there is any).. It is to support your position and prevent
you from falling or getting hurt when you lost your balance.

Third - Lean your back and head against the wall forming a straight line.
Leaning against the wall is to use it as a support for your back/spine as protection.

Fourth - Bend your knees
Ligament is a flexible, connective tissue. Thus, the impact of fractured bones will be minimised
during fall.

For everyone, kindly do share this piece of information with your near and dear ones!

Jimmy's heavy-duty, dangerous question

Why I love Islam: Lauren Booth defiantly explains why she is becoming a Muslim

By Lauren Booth
Last updated at 12:05 AM on 31st October 2010

It is the most peculiar journey of my life. The carriage is warm and my fellow passengers
unexpectedly welcoming. We are progressing rapidly and without delay. Rain, snow, rail unions,
these things make no difference to the forward rush.

Yet I have no idea how I came to be on board nor, stranger still, quite where the train is heading,
apart from this: the destination, wherever it might be, is the most important place I can imagine.

I know this all seems gloriously far-fetched, but really it is how I feel about my conversion,
announced last week, to Islam.

'My father was an alcoholic so if I'm going to avoid the stuff what could be better?'
Although the means and mechanisms that brought me to this point remain mysterious, the decision
will determine every aspect of my life to come as firmly as the twin rails beneath that
exhilarating express.

Asked for a simple explanation of how I, an English hack journalist, a single working mother,
signed up to the Western media’s least-favourite religion, I suppose I would point to an intensely
spiritual experience in an Iranian mosque just over a month ago.

But it makes more sense to go back to January 2005, when I arrived alone in the West Bank to cover
the elections there for The Mail on Sunday. It is safe to say that before that visit I had never
spent any time with Arabs, or Muslims.

The whole experience was a shock, but not for the reasons I might have expected. So much of what we
know about this part of the world and the people who follow Mohammed the Prophet is based on
disturbing – some would say biased – news bulletins.

So, as I flew towards the Middle East, my mind was full of the usual 10pm buzz words: radical
extremists, fanatics, forced marriages, suicide bombers and jihad. Not much of a travel brochure.

My very first experience, though, could hardly have been more positive. I had arrived on the West
Bank without a coat, as the Israeli airport authorities had kept my suitcase.

Walking around the centre of Ramallah, I was shivering, whereupon an old lady grabbed my hand.

Back in the day: Lauren and her father looking close before her interest in Islam grew
Talking rapidly in Arabic, she took me into a house on a side street. Was I being kidnapped by a
rather elderly terrorist? For several confusing minutes I watched her going through her daughter’s
wardrobe until she pulled out a coat, a hat and a scarf.

I was then taken back to the street where I had been walking, given a kiss and sent warmly on my
way. There had been not a single comprehensible word exchanged between us.

It was an act of generosity I have never forgotten, and one which, in various guises, I have seen
repeated a hundred times. Yet this warmth of spirit is so rarely represented in what we read and
see in the news.

Over the course of the next three years I made numerous journeys to the occupied lands which were
once historic Palestine. At first I went on assignments; as time went by, I started travelling in
solidarity with charities and pro-Palestinian groups.

I felt challenged by the hardships suffered by Palestinians of all creeds. It is important to
remember there have been Christians in the Holy Land for 2,000 years and that they too are
suffering under Israel’s illegal occupation.

Gradually I found expressions such as ‘Mashallah!’ (a phrase of gratitude meaning ‘God has willed
it’) and ‘Al Hamd illilah!’ (akin to ‘Halle lujah’) creeping into my everyday speech. These are
exclamations of delight derived from the 100 names of God, or Allah. Far from being nervous of
Muslim groups, I started looking forward to meeting them. It was an opportunity to be with people
of intelligence, wit and, above all else, kindness and generosity.

I’m going to take a break here to pray for ten minutes as it’s 1.30pm. (There are five prayers each
day, the times varying throughout the year depending on the rising and setting of the sun.)

I was in no doubt that I had embarked on a change of political understanding, one in which
Palestinians became families rather than terror suspects, and Muslim cities communities rather
than ‘collateral damage’.

But a religious journey? This would never have occurred to me. Although I have always liked to pray
and, since childhood, have enjoyed the stories of Jesus and the more ancient prophets that I had
picked up at school and at the Brownies, I was brought up in a very secular household.

It was probably an appreciation of Muslim culture, in particular that of Muslim women, that first
drew me towards a broader appreciation of Islam.

How strange Muslim women seem to English eyes, all covered up from head to toe, sometimes walking
behind their husbands (although this is far from universally the case), with their children around
their long skirts.

By contrast, professional women in Europe are happy to make the most of their appearance. I, for
example, have always been proud of my lovely blonde hair and, yes, my cleavage.

It was common working practice to have this on display at all times because so much of what we sell
these days has to do with our appearance.

Yet whenever I have been invited to broadcast on television, I have sat watching in wonder as the
female presenters spend up to an hour on their hair and make- up, before giving the serious topics
under discussion less than 15 minutes’ attention. Is this liber ation? I began to wonder just how
much true respect girls and women get in our ‘free’ society.

In 2007 I went to Lebanon. I spent four days with female university students, all of whom wore the
full hijab: belted shirts over dark trousers or jeans, with no hair on show. They were charming,
independent and outspoken company. They were not at all the timid, soon-to-be-forced-into-marriage
girls I would have imagined from what we often read in the West.

At one point they accompanied me to interview a sheikh who was also a commander with the Hezbollah
militia. I was pleasantly surprised by his attitude to the girls. As Sheikh Nabil, in turban and
brown flowing robes, talked intriguingly of a prisoner swap, they started butting in. They felt
free to talk over him, to put a hand up for him to pause while they translated.

In fact, the bossiness of Muslim women is something of a joke that rings true in so many homes in
the community. You want to see men under the thumb? Look at many Muslim husbands more than other
kinds.
Indeed, just yesterday, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia rang me and only half-jokingly introduced himself
as ‘my wife’s husband’.

Something else was changing, too. The more time I spent in the Middle East, the more I asked to be
taken into mosques. Just for touristy reasons, I told myself. In fact I found them fascinating.

Free of statues and with rugs instead of pews, I saw them rather like a big sitting room where
children play, women feed their families pitta bread and milk and grandmothers sit and read the
Koran in wheelchairs. They take their lives into their place of worship and bring their worship
into their homes.

Then came the night in the Iran ian city of Qom, beneath the golden dome of the shrine of Fatima
Mesumah (the revered ‘Learned Lady’). Like the other women pilgrims, I said Allah’s name several
times while holding on to the bars of Fatima’s tomb.

When I sat down, a pulse of sheer spiritual joy shot through me. Not the joy that lifts you off the
ground, but the joy that gives you complete peace and contentment. I sat for a long time. Young
women gathered around me talking of the ‘amazing thing happening to you’.

I knew then I was no longer a tourist in Islam but a traveller inside the Ummah, the community of
Islam that links all believers.

At first I wanted the feeling to go, and for several reasons. Was I ready to convert? What on earth
would friends and family think? Was I ready to moderate my behaviour in many ways?

And here’s the really strange thing. I needn’t have worried about any of these things, because
somehow becoming a Muslim is really easy – although the practicalities are a very different matter,
of course.

For a start, Islam demands a great deal of study, yet I am mother to two children and work full-
time. You are expected to read the Koran from beginning to end, plus the thoughts and findings of
imams and all manner of spiritually enlightened people. Most people would spend months, if not
years of study before making their declaration.

People ask me how much of the Koran I’ve read, and my answer is that I’ve only covered 100 pages or
so to date, and in translation. But before anyone sneers, the verses of the Koran should be read
ten lines at a time, and they should be recited, considered and, if possible, committed to memory.
It’s not like OK! magazine.

This is a serious text that I am going to know for life. It would help to learn Arabic and I would
like to, but that will also take time.

I have a relationship with a couple of mosques in North London, and I am hoping to make a routine
of going at least once a week. I would never say, by the way, whether I will take a Sunni or a Shia
path. For me, there is one Islam and one Allah.

Adopting modest dress, however, is rather less troublesome than you might think. Wearing a
headscarf means I’m ready to go out more quickly than before. I was blushing the first time I wore
it loosely over my hair just a few weeks ago.

Luckily it was cold outside, so few people paid attention. Going out in the sunshine was more of a
challenge, but this is a tolerant country and no one has looked askance so far.

Change of lifestyle: Lauren enjoying a drink with Chris Evans at the 1998 Labour conference
A veil, by the way, is not for me, let alone something more substantial like a burka. I’m making no
criticism of women who choose that level of modesty. But Islam has no expectation that I will adopt
a more severe form of dress.

Predictably, some areas of the Press have had a field day with my conversion, unleashing a torrent
of abuse that is not really aimed at me but a false idea of Islam.

But I have ignored the more negative comments. Some people don’t understand spirituality and any
discussion of it makes them frightened. It raises awkward questions about the meaning of their own
lives and they lash out.

One of my concerns is professional. It is easy to get pigeonholed, particularly if I continue to
wear a headscarf. In fact, based on the experience of other female converts, I’m wondering if I
will be treated as though I have lost my mind.

I’ve been political all my life, and that will continue. I’ve been involved in pro-Palestinian
activism for a number of years, and don’t expect to stop. Yet Britain is a more tolerant country
than, say, France or Germany.

I’m well aware that there are plenty of Muslim women who have great success on television and in
the Press, and wear modest but decidedly Western dress.

This is hardly a choice for me, though. I am a newcomer, still getting to grips with the basic
tenets. My relationship with Islam is different. I am in no position to say that some bits of my
new-found faith suit me and that some bits I’ll ignore.

There is a more profound uncertainty about the future, too. I feel changes going on in me every
day – that I’m becoming a different person. I wonder where that will end up. Who will I be?

I am fortunate in that my most important relationships remain strong. The reaction from my non-
Muslim friends has been more curious than hostile. ‘Will it change you?’ they ask. ‘Can we still be
your friend? Can we go out drinking?’
The answer to the first two of those questions is yes. The last is a big happy no.

As for my mother, I think she is happy if I’m happy. And if, coming from a background of my
father’s alcoholism, I’m going to avoid the stuff, then what could be better?

Growing up in an alcoholic household with a dad who was violent, has left a great gap in my life.
It is a wound that will never heal and his remarks about me are very hurtful.

We haven’t seen each other for years, so how can he know anything about me or have any valid views
about my conversion? I just feel sorry for him. The rest of my family is very supportive.

My mum and I had a difficult relationship when I was growing up, but we have built bridges and
she’s a great support to me and the girls.

When I told her I had converted, she did say: ‘Not to those nutters. I thought you said Buddhism!’
But she understand now and accepts it.

And, as it happens, giving up alcohol was a breeze. In fact I can’t imagine tasting alcohol ever
again. I simply don’t want to.

Wrapping up: Sister of Cherie Blair wears the traditional Hijab headwear since she has converted to
Islam
This is not the time for me to be thinking about relationships with men, either. I’m recovering
from the breakdown of my marriage and am now going through a divorce.

So I’m not looking and am under no pressure to look.

If, when the time came, I did consider remarrying, then, in accordance with my adopted faith, the
husband would need to be Muslim.

I’m asked: ‘Will my daughters be Muslim?’ I don’t know, that is up to them. You can’t change
someone’s heart. But they’re certainly not hostile and their reaction to my surprising conversion
was perhaps the most telling of all.

I sat in the kitchen and called them in. ‘Girls, I have some news for you,’ I began. ‘I am now a
Muslim.’ They went into a huddle, with the eldest, Alex, saying: ‘We have some questions, we’ll be
right back.’

They made a list and returned. Alex cleared her throat. ‘Will you drink alcohol any more?’

Answer: No. The response – a rather worrying ‘Yay!’

‘Will you smoke cigarettes any more?’ Smoking isn’t haram (for bidden) but it is harmful, so I
answered: ‘No.’

Again, this was met with puritanical approval. Their final question, though, took me aback.  ‘Will
you have your breasts out in public now you are a Muslim?’

What??

It seems they’d both been embarrassed by my plunging shirts and tops and had cringed on the school
run at my pallid cleavage. Perhaps in hindsight I should have cringed as well.

‘Now that I’m Muslim,’ I said, ‘I will never have my breasts out in public again.’

‘We love Islam!’ they cheered and went off to play. And I love Islam too.
